The Lakes Mountaineer offers coaching, instruction and guiding. We have a range of 1-day courses from taster sessions for complete beginners through to self-rescue techniques for the advanced climber, and multi-day courses to build you into a competent second or lead climber. So whether you want some coaching in climbing movement, want to  be guided up some mountainous routes or learn how to be an independent climber, click here to read more.

Somewhere between walking and rock climbing lies mountaineering, or scrambling. From grade 1 routes like Jack's Rake in the Langdales through to grade 3 Pinnacle Ridge on St Sunday Crag, the routes are part of a journey through the mountains. Join The Lakes Mountaineer and be guided up the routes, or come and learn the skills to become independent.

Running throughout the year, we can offer courses for any age or ability. Whether total beginner or someone wanting more advanced navigation in the mountains, join a scheduled National Navigation Award Scheme course, or a bespoke day.
